Extension lecture organised by Placement and Career Guidance Cell of Government Bikram College for its students

The Training, Placement and Career Guidance Cell of HEIS Department of Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala organised an extension lecture on September 26, 2024 under the guidance of college Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata. The main objective of the session was to provide valuable insights to enable students to identify actions that set the stage for the success of a leader in an organization.
The resource person for the event was the renowned educationist and philanthropist of International repute Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Lehal, Professor in Management, School of Applied Management, Punjabi University, Patiala. The theme of the session was leadership and team building. The areas covered for the session were leadership skills for growth and development, leadership styles, leadership traits, creation of groups, storming, norming, importance of developing leadership skills, core values of leadership, leadership obstacles and qualities of a good leader. She stated that leaders carry the capacity to create wonders for the followers. She took the example of the movie ‘Chak de India’ as a base to introduce about management skills and team building. She analysed each character of the movie under the lens of leadership and group building. She illustrated the concept of ‘leadership by example’ by taking real life incidents.
She stressed on the idea of fighting for each other instead of fighting against each other as the real essence of leadership. It is by adopting these principles, students can definitely become good leaders. The session was followed by a Q&A session and feedback of the students. It proved to be really fruitful and the queries of the students were resolved. The winners of the Hapttitude Bikram Waves were also awarded by the Chief guest and Principal . While congratulating the winners the Principal encouraged all the students to participate in the activities.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Rekha Rani (IQAC Coordinator), Dr. Reetu Kapoor (Member Secretary, HEIS) and Dr Rajni Bala (Incharge Training, Placement and Career Guidance Cell). On this occasion, Prof. Gazal, Prof. Swati were present. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Savita Gupta. The program was attended by the students of M. Com., B. Com-III and BBA-I (Banking, Financal Services and Insurance).
