Faculty Development Programme concluded at Modi College
Patiala-Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized UGC sponsored one week Faculty Development Programme under the theme of “Contemporary Issues in Higher Education.’
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the resource persons and faculty members. He said that higher education is facing a number of challenges at the international, national and institutional levels. He stressed that higher education must adapt to economic and social needs and should respond to educational innovation, new information and communication technologies and share knowledge for the construction of a planetary and post-cosmopolitan citizenship.
During the week long faculty development programme, resource persons of repute from different universities discussed different aspects of the theme with the teachers. Dr. Parteek Bhatia, Associate Professor from Department of Computer and Engineering, TIET, Patiala demonstrated how to use innovative Multimedia based ‘flip learning method’ of education.
Dr. Kuldip Puri, Professor, University School of Open Learning talked about the concept of ‘Autonomy’ in higher education institutions. Dr. Ashutosh Kumar, Director UGC-HRDC, Panjab University, Chandigarh elaborated how current political landscapes are colouring the visionary wisdom of knowledge-production. Dr. Gurdarshan Singh Brar, Additional Director, Directorate of Public Instructions (Colleges) said that teachers are link between different stake holders in higher education. They have to play a very active and significant role in ensuring higher standards of learning and to maintain quality of higher education.
The faculty development programme was attended by all the faculty members of the college.
