In a smart move congress high command today announces the Pradesh election committee of Punjab Pradesh congress committee under the chairmanship of Navjot Singh Sidhu and adjusted the Capt loyalist MLAs to refrain them to shift their party in coming days, for the upcoming Punjab elections.
In the Pradesh election committee of PPCC along with chief minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi all senior leaders, sitting MPs, ministers, mahila congrees chief, youth congress chief etc were made members.
In addition to them, the high command adjusted the former state ministers under Capt Amarinder Singh chief minister ship Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Shyam Sunder Arora, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.
These five cabinet ministers- Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Shyam Sunder Arora, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot who were part of the Capt Amarinder Singh-led government were dropped from the new ministry, that was formed in September 2021 under Charanjit singh Channi chief minister ship.
Fear of shifting of Capt loyalist MLAs; PPCC adjusted them in Pradesh election committee as speculations were rife in political circles that some sitting MLAs may shift to Capt Amarinder Singh camp, as they were expecting that congress high command may again drop them and won’t allot party ticket for the upcoming assembly elections.
Moreover, this comes just a day after PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he will never be a showpiece to win elections and never lie to the people of the state for coming to power. He said he had never asked for any position from anyone in his life but always wanted Punjab’s welfare.
“Neither have I demanded anything in life nor will I ever do so. I have never even asked people for votes,” Sidhu said while responding to a question from whom on whether he would be named as the chief minister by the Congress if it wins the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls.
