In a strategic and planned move by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to constitute a temporary committee to advise the Government of Punjab on matters of public importance pertaining to public administration has finally adjusted AAP leader Raghav Chadha.

Today, Raghav Chadha has been made Chairman of the temporary committee to advise the Government of Punjab on matters of public importance pertaining to public administration. Now, as chairperson he would be able to be a part of official meetings and give his advice to the government on paper.

This move has already sparked a controversy in the state politics. The largest opposition party of Punjab, Congress has already alleged that AAP wanted to “accommodate” its Rajya Sabha member parliament from Punjab as its chairperson may “eventually end up as the defacto chief minister” of the state.

The decision to constitute the temporary advisory committee was taken on Wednesday and the notification for which was issued by newly appointed Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua.

As per the notification, chairperson and its members would not be entitled to any compensation or remuneration.

Partap Singh Bajwa, CLP Leader had said “the advisory body must be seen as a back-door entry of the Delhi Government to Chandigarh. I will seek Governor’s intervention to act as a guardian of Punjab’s interests.

Raja Warring, PCC President had said “It amounts to creating an extra-constitutional authority without any accountability. This will undermine the mandate of elected government and the Cabinet”.
