First decision by Kejriwal after coming out of jail surprised everyone; announces his resignation

In a sudden move after two days Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came out of jail, announced his resignation from the CM post of Delhi. Two days ago he was granted bail and walked out of Tihar jail after six months and his resignation from the CM post has created anxiety in the political circle.

He said, “Despite the court giving us bail, the case will continue. I spoke to my lawyers. Till the case does not end, I will not sit on the CMs seat. After two days, I am going to resign from the post of CM. I will not sit on the CM’s seat till the people elect me and send me to the seat again.”

While addressing the public on Sunday afternoon at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) headquarters, he said the future of the Aam Aadmi Party rests in the hands of the public now. Kejriwal demanded the assembly elections, due in February, to be conducted in November itself. He will also not hold any position and will only come back to the government after a fresh mandate. He vowed not to sit in the CM’s chair until people give him a “certificate of honesty”.

“I want to give ‘agnipariksha’ after coming out of jail. I will become chief minister, Sisodia deputy CM only when people say we are honest,” he said.

The new Chief Minister will be appointed and the decision would be taken at a cabinet meeting in the next two days.Now, race for CM’s post hots up, but confusion over the name is still on.

Earlier in May this year he had declared that “he would not resign from his post and show Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he can run the government from jail.”

First decision by Kejriwal after coming out of jail surprised everyone; announces his resignation. As per experts, here is the list of possible cabinet ministers or senior party functionaries as chief ministers of Delhi.

Atishi – Currently holds five departments in the Delhi cabinet: Women and child development, education, tourism, art, culture and Language, Public Works Department, and power.

Kailash Gahlot – Currently holds eight departments: law, justice and legislative affairs, transport, administrative reforms, IT, revenue, finance, planning, and ome and all other departments not specifically allotted to any minister.

Saurabh Bharadwaj – Currently holds seven departments: Vigilance, services, health, industries, urban development, irrigation and flood control, and water.

Gopal Rai – He is the minister of development, general administration department, environment, and forest and wild life in the national capital.

Imran Hussain – He looks after food and supply, and election departments in Delhi.

Jarnail Singh, representing Rajouri Garden area in the Delhi assembly, is another probable candidate.

Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Kumar Jain remained his cabinet colleagues. But presently they are accused in certain cases.
