The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centre at NIS Patiala hosted the ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative today, with DIG Patiala Range Mandeep Singh Sidhu flagging off the event as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu praised the NIS for organizing the event and emphasized the importance of hosting such activities regularly, not just on Tuesdays, to promote fitness and community participation.

Executive Director of NS NIS Patiala, Vineet Kumar, thanked the dignitaries and participants. He highlighted that Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, had officially launched the ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative earlier in New Delhi.

The event at NIS Patiala witnessed enthusiastic participation from elite athletes, including former Olympian Shakti Singh, Asian Games gold medallist and Olympian Tejinder Pal Singh Toor, Olympian Rani Rampal, and Olympian Anu Rani. Leading a 10-kilometer cycling joy ride from the NIS campus to Fountain Chowk via Lower Mall Road and back, they were joined by athletes from Punjab’s National Athletic Team, NCOE athletes, local fitness enthusiasts, and citizens. Over 250 participants took part in the event.
