For the first time father-son duo to contest lok sabha elections in Punjab; party announces their candidature

Today, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by Simranjit Singh Mann announced three more candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The three candidates for SAD (A) include Harpal Baler from Khadoor Sahib, Emaan Singh Mann from Amritsar and Bhupinder Singh Bhullar from Ferozepur.

This is for the time that Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann, who is a sitting Member of Parliament from Sangrur has given party ticket to Emaan Singh Mann from Amritsar.

Emaan Singh Mann is a son of Simranjit Singh Mann. Till date Emaan has contested only for state assembly seat and this is his first election on any parliamentary seat.

By fielding Emaan Singh Mann from Amritsar, SAD (A) has made this election an interesting and a five cornered contest. Already BJP, AAP, Congress and SAD (B) are contesting elections separately on all 13 seats.

Till now only husband-wife contested lok sabha polls. Like Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat kaur Badal. Even Capt Amarinder Singh and Preneet kaur also contested 2014 lok sabha elections from Amritsar and Patiala.

Like Partap Singh Karion- Surinder Singh Karion, Parkash Singh Badal-Sukhbir Singh Badal, Capt Amarinder Singh-Raninder Singh, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa-Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Prem Singh Chandumajra- Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra etc never contested lok sabha elections in same year.

Earlier Mann had announced five candidates for Punjab and two from Haryana.

Party has fielded Khushalpal Singh Mann contest from Anandpur Sahib, Amritpal Singh Chandra from Ludhiana, Baldev Singh Gagra from Faridkot, Mohinder Pal Singh from Patiala.

In Haryana, Harjeet Singh Virk will contest elections from Karnal and Khazan Singh from Kurukshetra.

Polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will be held on June 1, while voting for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will take place on May 25.
