For the first time, women brigade managing “Patiala Heritage Festival”; craft mela to begin from February 25

Since its inception in 2003, this year Patiala Heritage Festival is different from the past festivals in one way and that is, it is managed by the women officers of the district.
After the formation of aam admi party (AAP)’s government in Punjab, for the first time a woman IAS officer Sakshi Swahney was appointed as the first deputy commissioner of the royal city Patiala.
Swahney is managing the Patiala Heritage Festival for the first time. Many functions, events were already held in the last around two-three months including flower show, aero modeling show, military literature festival, dog show, theatre/play shows, heritage walk etc. Now, equestrian show (horse show), craft mela and other events are going to be held in coming days.
She is being assisted by another woman officer- additional deputy commissioner (development) Isha Singal, PCS who is also the nodal officer of the craft mela which is going to be held at Sheesh Mahal from February 25 to March 5,2023.
Dr Akshita Gupta, IAS who is an under training (UT) officer is also learning the practical experience by helping Sakshi Swahney.
Ismat Vijay Singh, PCS, sub divisional magistrate (SDM) is assisting deputy commissioner in managing law and order in the Patiala city.
Joint Commissioner, municipal corporation, Patiala Jeevanjot Kaur, PCS is marinating the cleanliness of the royal city and other basic amenities required at the festival and for craft mela.
Dr Dalbir Kaur , chief medical officer (CMO), Patiala is helping the deputy commissioner in managing the medical emergency, services, if any, during the ongoing Patiala Heritage Festival and upcoming craft mela where lakhs of visitors are expected to throng to witness the mini India.
District language officer Chandandeep Kaur is assisting the deputy commissioner in implementing the chief minister orders and promoting Punjabi during the ongoing heritage festival and upcoming craft mela.
District Education Officer (Senior Secondary), Patiala Harinder Kaur is also assisting the deputy commissioner in highlighting the rich heritage, culture of Punjab, Patiala in government schools. Govt School students participated enthusiastically in the first military literature festival, which was also a part of the ongoing Patiala heritage festival.

District food and civil supplies controller Dr Ravinder kaur, district social security officer (DSSO) Jobanpreet kaur, district child protection officer (DCPO) Shiana Kapoor are also assisting the deputy commissioner as per the duty assigned to them from time to time to make this year festival, craft mela a great success.
Harwant Kaur, PPS , superintendent of police (SP), (H) is also providing a great support to the team.
