Four laning and widening project of Patiala to GT Road Sirhind Marg; DC Patiala issues instructions

Deputy Commissioner ,Patiala, Sakshi Sawhney has reviewed the four laning of Patiala to GT Road, Sirhind. The Punjab Government has approved the total stretch of 29 km and it will start soon.
Deputy Commissioner directed the XEN, PSPCL to start the work of shifting the electricity poles and lines immediately and submit a sector-wise report to the DC office. She also directed the XEN National Highway to fill up and repair the potholes as they are causing accidents on this road. She further directed to remove the objections raised by the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Ministry of Govt of India by liaising with DFO Patiala.
She further informed me that The 8 km road from Patiala to Baran is already a four-lane road and the rest 21 km stretch will be four lanes. The road will be widened on both sides by 8.75-meter width and will have a 1.2 m center verge in it. The road from Patiala to Baran will be an overlay of 75mm DBM and 40mm BC on an already 8 km existing 4-lane portion of Patiala city. A new steel structured bridge was proposed on Bhakhra canal, added Sakshi Sawhney.
She added that the four-lane of Patiala to road from Patiala to Sirhind GT road is not only an important route for social, and business purposes only, but it’s a religious route also as it connects Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib in Patiala, Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Gurudwara Chamkaur sahib.
