As per sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 PM today. There is no official confirmation yet on the subject of his address, triggering widespread speculation about what the Prime Minister may speak on.
His address comes on the eve of Navratri and also coincides with the rollout of GST 2.0 reforms, which are set to take effect starting tomorrow.
Since assuming office as the country’s top executive, Prime Minister Modi has addressed the nation nearly six times to announce major government decisions. Notable past addresses include:
- November 8, 2016: Announced the demonetisation of ₹500 and ₹1,000 currency notes.
- March 12, 2019: Informed the nation about the Balakot airstrikes, launched in response to the Pulwama terror attack.
- March 24, 2020: Declared a three-week nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
- April 14, 2020: Announced the extension of the lockdown period.
