From pan Punjab Food Inspector Union members reached Chandigarh to stage dharna

As announced by the Inspector Food Supplies Union Punjab to stage a statewide dharna at food department’s  headoffice at Chandigarh on Monday, August 5,2024, members of the inspector union has reached Chandigarh.

Rajwant Singh Walia, general secretary of the inspector union said “ members from all the district has come to Chandigarh to stage a dharna at department’s head office. Also the members of the union are staging dharna at their respective districts. Today, the managing director has called a meeting with the union members at 12:00 noon. If the authorities failed to adhere to our genuine demands than all the members of the union will come to Chandigarh for a bigger protest”

Earlier, the Inspector union had given a strike call for August 1 and 2 after the authorities failed to adhere to their demands and announced to stage a state level dharna at food department head office at Chandigarh.

Inspector Food Supplies Union Punjab president Harmandeep Singh had already said that “the union had given a list of unmet demands to the managing director, food and civil supplies department, Punjab on July 25,2024 and requested the authorities to look into their demands by July 31,2024. Otherwise the union members will go on strike on August 1, 2, 2024 at their district office level. After that the Inspector Food Supplies Union Punjab will stage a dharna at department’s head office from August 5,2024.”

Another officer on the condition of anonymity said “we are asking for the resolution of genuine demands but few officials at HO are deliberately adopting the dilly delaying tactics. After two day dharna, nothing has happened. Now, we came to Chandigarh on our union call to stage a dharna at Chandiagrh.”
