Today, under the G 20 University Connect: Engaging Young Minds Lecture Series, A special program was arranged at Senate Hall, Punjabi University Patiala. The event was coordinated and managed by Research and Information System (RIS) for Developing Countries, New Delhi.

Navdeep Suri, former ambassador/High Commission in his key note address entitled Rise of India on the Global Stage pointed out that exogenous factors now clearly favor India in establishing its rightful position in world affairs. India can leverage the emerging US and China tensions to its favor. The world no longer is unipolar, and is not controlled by any sole super power. US government will like its companies to invest in India than China. Global supply chains are now more resilient. India maintained its neutral position during ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. And, succeeded in getting oil at lower prices from Russia despite the pressure of western countries led by US. The situation in Middle East witnessed qualitative shift during about last decade or so. Now, we have much better relations with Islamic countries. The endogenous factors like sustained high growth, better focus on foreign policy, comfortable domestic food situation, better governance and higher level of technologies helped us to improve our footprint abroad. The undesirable behavior of China in its neighborhood has isolated it from large number of countries.

Rahul Ranjan, participated as a representative of RIS.
