GDC Ganderbal, J&K organises Voter Awareness Programme

Under the SVEEP Action plan, the debating committee of government degree college, Ganderbal in collaboration with the department of political science organized a panel discussion on the topic “Vote for Power, Vote for Progress: The Route Ahead” on May 2,2024.
The discussion started with a deliberation on the importance of vote and the process of voting by Dr. Wasia, convener of the debating committee of the college followed by an extensive presentation by Prof. Nazneen, head of department of Political Science.
Prof. Fouzia Fatima, principal of the degree college Ganderbal initiated the panel discussion and expressed her positive opinions regarding the theme. Various staff members and students of the college participated in the discussion and highlighted the importance and need of the voting process.
“The programme held at GDC Ganderbal was intended to build a participative democratic character among students and encourage them to vote and make an informed decision during the elections,” she said.
The panel discussion served as an important platform for the exchange of enthusiastic views and ideas, thereby, setting out the route ahead for progress and success. A Voter Education Sensitization/Signature Campaign was also held in the college in which a huge number of first time voters came forward and signed the banner under the slogan “Nothing like Voting: I Vote for Sure” scheduled for Lok Sabha electoral polling on May 13, 2024 for District Ganderbal.
Professor Fouzia Fatima said that the signature campaign was launched in this college to make an awareness among the students and staff members to increase voter awareness and participation.
The program was organized with several informative sessions and interactive activities to engage with the participants. The program was attended by faculty members, college students.
The SVEEP signature campaign received overwhelming response from students and staff and a large number of students, faculty and non-teaching staff took active part in the campaign and registered their signatures on the signature board encouraging them to become active participants in the electoral process.
