Ghaggar river water entered in a village in Patiala district, now receding

With the increase in water flow, the water has entered in village Chamaroo in Patiala district and created havoc in the village. But now the water is receding as for the last around twelve hours the inflow is decreased due to no rain in the catchment area.

As per executive engineer of water resources department Pratham Gambhir, “ the situation is under control. In the morning water has entered village Chamaroo in a low lying are of the village. But with no rain in the catchment area the water is receding steadily. The water level near village Bhankarpur (Chandigarh-Ambala raod crossing bridge) is at just 2 feet whereas the danger mark is 10 feet.”

He further added “the situation is under control and there is no need to panic.”

Whereas the water level has reached the danger mark in Patiala district and villagers have been asked to avoid venturing towards the river in Rajpura, Ghanaur and other nearby areas.

Today, at 6:00 pm the Ghaggar water level near village Sarala Kalan (Narwana Branch) has reached 14 feet and the danger level is 16 feet. Similarly, the water level in Tangri Nadi RD 13500 (Patiala-Pehowa road X-ing Bridge) the present water level is 10 feet and the danger level is 12 feet.

Meanwhile, Patiala district administration  appealed to citizens to remain calm, avoid the spread of rumours, and promptly report any water-related emergencies to the district control room at 0175-2350550.
