Giani Raghbir Singh gets marching order from SGPC

Today, the executive committee of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has removed Giani Raghbir Singh from the post of Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and appointed Kuldip Singh Gargaj as the new Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The committee members has also appointed Giani Tek Singh Dhanaula as the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib,Bathinda.
Last month Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh had strongly condemned the decision of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC)’s executive committee to sack Giani Harpreet Singh, calling it harmful to Sikh temporal seats’ independence.
As per the decision, Giani Raghbir Singh will continue to serve Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.
The other step taken with this change also involved the deposition of Giani Sultan Singh from the Jathedar of Kesgarh Sahib post. He, along with him, will remain as the Head Granthi of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
The committee has also postponed its decision on the resignation of its president Harjinder Singh Dhami.
