GIEAIA leadership gives clarion call in GIC Re in Mumbai to strengthen PSGICs, oppose privatization

A GIEAIA delegation, comprising Com. Darshan Kumar Wadhwa, Com. Trilok Singh, Com. Jeetu Ingle, Com. Hemant Sarang, Com. Rajesh Patil, Com. Ashok Mistri, and other comrades, visited GIC Re Head Office in Mumbai.

They apprised employees and officers about the ongoing struggle and appealed for intensifying and sharpening struggle to meet their legitimate demands, including:

– Wage revision and other Benefits at par with LIC

– Uniform family pension @ 30%

– 14% Employer Contribution in NPS

– Adequate recruitment in all cadres

– Merger of all four PSGICs

– Strengthening PSGICs

– Establishing a regulatory authority on hospitals

Trilok Singh, General Secretary, GIEAIA said “ The GIEAIA leadership paid sincere tributes to Com. Kaka Samant, and remembered his great contributions to the working class of PSGICs. They urged all to draw inspiration from his life and work”.

GIEAIA leadership highlighted its historical role in:

– Nationalization of the general insurance industry

– 1974 wage settlement

– Formation of PF Trusts (1974) and welfare societies (1978)

– Computerization with computer increment

– 1995 pension scheme

– Struggle against mechanical TMP to need-based TMP

– Consistent opposition to privatization (last 30 years)

– Formation of various Co-operative Societies and strengthening cooperative movement throughout the Country
