GNDU’s Parmeet Kaur is Miss and Jasmeet Singh is Mr Jashan 2024; Architecture Department won overall championship

The Architecture Department won the overall championship of the Inter-Departmental Cultural Festival Jashan – 2024 of Guru Nanak Dev University. This festival was concluded here today in the Dasmesh Auditroiuum of the University with the beat of punjabi folk dance gidha. A large number of Student-artists of the various Departments of the University participated in this four-day event. Eminent singers and Bollywood personalities, Satinder Sartaj and Neeru Bajwa graced the occasion
The Laws Department stood second and Computer Engineering & Technology (CET) Department remained third in these competitions.
Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar of the University was the chief guest of prize distribution function. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Students Welfare welcomed the chief guest and other. Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Prof. Bedi and Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge, Youth Welfare Department awrded the trophies to the winners. On this occasion, members of the University Cultral Committee, students of various departments, faculty members & officials were present.
Prof. Kahlon said that such festivals are a very important part of our academic system and play an important role in promoting our rich cultural heritage. He said that these festivals also explore the concept of brotherhood, national integration, communal harmony and courage amongst the students.
Jasmeet Singh from University School of Financial Studies (USFS) was adjudged Mr. Jashan 2024 and Parmeet Kaur from Electronics Technology Department was declared Miss Jashan 2024 in these competitions.

Overall category wise results are: Fine Arts – 1st Architecture Deparment, 2nd Chemistry and 3rd School of Social Sciences; Literary – 1st Laws, 2nd Mechenical Engineering and 3rd Botanical & Env Sciences; Music – 1st Architecture Department, 2nd USFS and 3rd Botanical & Env. Sciences Department; Theatre – 1st Electronics Technlogy, 2nd CET & 3rd – Laws and in Dance – 1st CET, 2nd Electronics Technology and 3rd Social Science, Architecture & USFS (bracketed).
