“SGPC will also come up with gold and silver memorial coins to mark 550th birth anniversary of first guru,” said Gobind Singh Longowal, President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee.

 

Meanwhile, he said the SGPC executive has also decided to send special jathas (groups of pilgrims) to religious places related to sikh community in Bangladesh on the occasion 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, first guru of sikhs.“The first Jatha of 101 pilgrims will be sent, for which two executive members have been assigned task to complete all the formalities.

Longowal also declared that Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee is bringing lots of reforms in its system. He said CCTV cameras would be installed to further streamline the management of historical gurudwara sahibs under the SGPC and through the procedure, golak number and store of the gurudwaras would be monitored online from the SGPC head office in Amritsar.

Longowal said mangers, accountants and storekeepers of gurudwaras would not be deployed at the same location for more than three years. To streamline the system, three central stores will be set up for the supply of various purchases of all gurudwaras under the committee. These three stores will be set up at Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Takht Damdama Sahib. From these three stores, needs of the Gurudwaras under SGPC would be met. The management also decided to computerize all office records of the SGPC.

 

He further informed that a new building for Gurudwara Sri Darbar Dera Baba Nanak in memory of Guru Nanak Dev has also been approved and will be completed before guru’s birth anniversary in November.
