Good news-60-year-old Gaggarpur resident wins battle over Covid-19 in Sangrur

In a big relief for Sangrur, the first Covid-19 positive patient of the district has won battle against Covid-19 and walked home on Thursday from local civil hospital after successful treatment. The doctors, para-medical staff and other officials bid him an emotional farewell when he walked out of special ward.

A 60-year-old man hailing from Gaggarpur village was tested as first coronavirus positive case of the district on April 9. The patient had returned from Chhattisgarh via Ludhiana in a flight on March 24 and was co-passenger in a flight from Delhi to Sahnewal in which a Covid-19 affected person was travelling. All his close contacts were resulted negative.

With the negative result of his confirmatory test, the number of active patients has been reduced to 2 from total 3 positive patients in Sangrur district.

While stepping out of the Covid-19 isolation ward, the Gaggarpur resident said that he had received very well care at the hospital and the arrangements done by the administration were commendable.

“To win battle over the coronavirus, the people should be more cautious and should always maintain social distancing while stepping out of their homes. One should properly wash his hands at regular intervals and proper care is required to prevent the contamination of this virus,” the resident said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that with the successful treatment of this case, the ray of hope to the state’s fight against Covid-19 has shined once again. He added that another positive patient reported from village Dehliz Kalan has also been tested negative in first test and will be tested again as two negative tests are required before patient is allowed to go home.
