Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala organized a seminar on “Blood Donation” for the students of BCA-I, BCA-II and BBA-I, BBA-II (all streams).
In a press communique’ the college spokesperson said “The program was conducted by the Computer Science Department and Management Department of HEIS under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata.”
Member Secretary, HEIS Dr. Reetu Kapoor and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Rekha Rani warmly welcomed the esteemed guests from the Dedicated Brothers Group. Sr. Asst. Prof. Dr. Harsimran Kaur conducted the stage and introduced the guest to the students.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Vermi , Founder and President of Dedicated Brothers Group (Regd.), Punjab. Dr. Vermi, who has donated blood voluntarily 88 times to save precious human lives, is currently serving as ATM Channel Manager, SBI, Patiala.
Harpreet Sandhu, General Secretary of Dedicated Brothers Group Regd. Punjab Patiala & Chairman of Daffodil School Patiala, also graced the occasion. He has also donated blood 88 times to save the human lives.
In his inspiring talk, Dr. Vermi urged students to embrace blood donation as a noble, life-saving act, sharing stories that moved many to pledge support.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata appreciated the remarkable efforts of the Dedicated Brothers Group for organizing such a meaningful and impactful event. She commended their commitment to community welfare and highlighted how initiatives like these play a vital role in nurturing empathy, social awareness, and civic responsibility among students. She further encouraged the students to actively participate in similar humanitarian activities, emphasizing that true education goes beyond academics, and it involves developing a compassionate attitude and contributing selflessly to the betterment of society.
Dr. Reetu Kapoor extended her gratitude to the resource person for his inspiring words and highlighted the role of youth in spreading awareness about the importance of regular blood donation for the welfare of society.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge by students to contribute to the cause of humanity through active participation in future blood donation drives.
