Govt Bikram College students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in week long NSS Camp

In a week-long endeavour to foster leadership qualities among students, Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala successfully concluded its National Service Scheme (NSS) camp today. Under the guidance of College Principal Prof (Dr) Kusum Lata and the leadership of NSS Program Officers Pr Ram Kumar, Shashi Bala, Satinder Kaur, and Dr. Harsimran Kaur, the camp proved to be a multifaceted initiative.
The inauguration on Day 1, headed by Dr. Ritu Lehal, Professor, and Head of the Dept. of Applied Sciences at Punjabi University, saw a massive cleanliness drive in the adopted village Ucha Gaon. Renowned social worker Jatwinder Grewal and his team joined the volunteers for the noble cause.
Throughout the week, the students actively engaged in various activities, including a campus cleanup, participation in the Annual Sports meet, a voter awareness rally, and celebrations for International Women’s Day. Dr.Vaneeta Rani delivered a message on Day 3 urging students to become responsible citizens.Day 4 took the volunteers to Dr. Sukhdev Singh Leprosy Ashram Patiala, where Advocate Umesh Ghai shared valuable insights into’Rights and Duties outlined in the Constitution. Fire safety programs, a Blood Donation camp in collaboration with Lions Club and Rajindra Hospital, and a seminar against drugs organized in partnership with Punjab Police marked the subsequent days.
The camp concluded on March 12, with Dr. Vishal Goyal, Controller (Examination) Punjabi University, Patiala, serving as the Chief Guest. Pr. Ram Kumar presented the NSS Report, and the program concluded with a valediction ceremony. The Best NSS Group and Volunteer were recognized, receiving appreciation from the Chief Guest for the college’s efforts, teamwork, and dedication exhibited by the NSS volunteers. Dr.Vaneeta Rani delivered a Vote of Thanks, and the program concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a lunch prepared by NSS volunteers for everyone in attendance.
