Govt employees receive notices for dereliction of election duty

Employees who failed to join the election duty have now been issued show cause notice from the District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioners. The employees have been asked to explain the reason for their absence or face consequences.
Government employees received notices who didn’t perform the December 30, 2018 Panchayat election duty. Poll duty is mandatory as per directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Concerned officer had issue the notices to the govt employee under the power executed by District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioners.
“You are deputed as Poling Officer of a Block and you were directed to present on December 29, 2018 at Govt. State College of Education, Patiala to collect the polling material. But you were absent on the said date. This effect the whole polling process. You disobey the orders of State Election Commission, Punjab. Why not an action under People Representative Act 1950 under section 32 be taken against you?” read a notice issued to an employee.
These employees were asked to present their view in the office of notice issuing authority , in person. If any employee fails to give the satisfactory reply then an action will be recommended to State Election Commission, under section 32 of People Representation Act
