Govt Medical College, Patiala done updates, Rajindra Hospital awaiting senior officials’ wrath for updating

After News Portal royalpatiala.in highlighted in these columns on August 13,2025 about “how Punjab’s premier health institution Govt Rajindra Hospital and Govt Medical College, Patiala in health minister hometown is spreading misinformation for the last more than one year and even failed to update itself in new academic session too” the authorities updated the information on Govt Medical College official website.
As per official website of Govt Medical college (https://gmcpatiala.edu.in/) earlier the college-Director-Principal was shown as Dr Rajan Singla, whereas Dr Raminder Pal Singh Sibia has already replaced him as Director-Principal of the Govt Medical College, Patiala.
But, to an utter surprise, the authorities after being pointed out in the news “Punjab health minister’s updation claims fallen flat, state’s renowned hospital in his hometown sharing outdated information” has once again failed to update the official website of Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala (https://rajindrahospitalpatiala.com/).
The website is still sharing the picture, details, information about medical superintendent of Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala as Dr Harnam Singh Reikhi, whereas he had already left this position in June 2024 and after that Dr Girish Sahni was appointed the medical superintendent of Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. Even Dr Sahni had resigned from the post and now Dr Vishal Chopra is presently holding the post of medical superintendent of Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. But the official website is still showing Dr Harnam Singh Reikhi as the medical superintendent of Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
Moreover the website of Govt Rajindra Hospital (https://rajindrahospitalpatiala.com/ ) shares information about the faculty of ENT, Paediatric Surgery and Skin and VD only out of 29 departments.
Interestingly, there is no information about faculty or introduction about New Emergency and Urology department.
Gurjit Singh, a local resident said “this is clear example of carelessness. Govt Rajindra Hospital is a part of Govt Medical College. The authorities updated the information about the Director-Principal and MS on one website but failed to update it on the other.” He further added that “If the higher authorities check the details of faculty and other staff, they will find that some of them may have retired or left the institution. For instance, the website still shows Dr Harshinder Kaur as working at Govt Rajindra Hospital and nodal officer in Govt Medical college,Patiala whereas she had left the institution around a year ago. This is just one example. Means, the authorities are sharing unauthenticated information.”
