Govt Mohindra College orgaised lecture on “Disintegration of the Mughal Empire”

Post Graduate Department of History, Govt Mohindra College, Patiala organised an extension lecture on the topic” Disintegration of the Mughal Empire” on Tuesday .

Professor (Dr) Jigar Mohammed from University of Jammu, Jammu was the key speaker on the occasion who spoke about the causes of decline and disintegration of Mughal Empire.

He said that Mughals Empire was established with Military power in 1526 and this power of the Mughal empire started to decline in 18th century, therefore the people who were persecuted by the military power of the Mughals, they got themselves disassociated from the Mughal empire and it failed to maintain its roots from Punjab to Deccan state. Ultimately, in 18th century it declined.

The principal of the college Prof Amarjit Singh presided over the function and extended a warm welcome to the guest speaker.

Dr Gagandip Cheema, Head Department of History, formerly welcomed the guest speaker and while introducing the theme said that analysis of the causes of the decline is a very complex and complicated issue.

Dr Swinder Singh Rekhi proposed the vote of thanks. Prof Kiranjit Kaur conducted the proceedings.

About 200 students and the faculty participated in the programme. Prof. Monika, Prof Pardeep Singh, Prof Satnam Kaur and students of the department took part in the question -answer session.
