Grand Farewell Marks Superannuation of Principal and Faculty at Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala

An emotional and graceful farewell ceremony was organized at Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala on 30 April 2026 to mark the superannuation of the revered Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata, and Shashi Bala, Commerce Instructor.
Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata concluded a dedicated career spanning 37 years in the field of education, including 30 years of committed teaching and 7 years of exemplary service as Principal. Widely admired for her dedication, discipline, and visionary leadership, she led the institution towards academic excellence and holistic development. Her tenure witnessed remarkable achievements in academics, co-curricular activities, and institutional growth, leaving a lasting legacy.
The program held in her honour was attended by faculty members, staff, and well-wishers. The program began with a lamp lighting ceremony followed by heartfelt speeches that highlighted her inspiring journey, leadership qualities, and compassionate approach towards students and staff alike. A beautifully crafted citation was presented as a token of respect and gratitude, acknowledging her immense contributions to the institution. She was lauded for her tireless efforts, integrity, and commitment, describing her as a guiding force and mentor.
On the same occasion, Shashi Bala, Commerce Instructor, was also felicitated on her superannuation. She was appreciated for her sincerity, dedication, and valuable contribution to the academic environment of the college. Her rapport with students and colleagues made her a respected member of the institution.
The function was enriched with song performances, nostalgic reflections, and moments of appreciation that added warmth to the occasion. Many speakers shared fond memories and expressed their gratitude for the guidance and support extended by both the retiring members over the years.
The program was smoothly conducted by Dr . Jaspreet kaur in coordination with Pr . Vivek ,Pr . Rekha Rani who ensured the smooth flow of events ,while the stage was handled gracefully by Dr .Paramjit Singh and Dr. Reetu Kapoor
The ceremony concluded on an emotional note with the thanking words by the Principal who thanked the DHE,Alumni ,PTA body ,HEIS nody and the entire college fraternity for making her career achieve such great heights.The teaching and non -teaching members of the staff extended their heartfelt wishes for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life ahead. The event stood as a tribute to years of selfless service and commitment, celebrating not just a farewell but a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
