Harjot Bains issues strict instructions to officials to ensure essential services in floods affected areas

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is conducting rescue operations on a war footing to deal with situation like floods in State due to heavy rainfall at Himachal Pradesh and semi-hilly areas of Punjab.

Expressing concern over affected areas Cabinet Minister issued strict instructions to officials to provide essential services within time. He said that all arrangements have been made for the people who living in low-lying areas and near danger-prone places to shift them in safe areas. Authorities should make adequate arrangements for road repairs, uninterrupted electricity supply, water supply, food and drink items, water drainage, health facilities, cleanliness so that normal life can be restored soon.

While visiting his affected villages of constituency Chandpur, Gajpur, Burj, Hariwal, Lodipur, Dher, Khamera, Mahain etc., he interacted with people for getting actual demage and losses.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, SDM Manisha Rana, DSP Ajay Singh and other senior officials of various departments were present with them.

Bains appealed to his party workers to set an example of humanity by working hard and diligently to help the people in a situation like this natural calamity.

Education Minister said that many roads have been damaged due to flood-like conditions, which are being repaired so as to ensure smooth traffic.  He asked the officials of the health department to provide better health facilities to the people living in remote villages and slums, and also sensitize them about the instructions issued by the health department.

Harjot Bains issues strict instructions to officials to ensure essential services in floods affected areas . He said that the monsoon has not ended, the level of Bhakra dam is still fully under control, in case of heavy rains in the mountains, the level of water in the plains could be increased, which poses a risk of loss of lives and property.

Bains further said that all the reasons for the occurrence of flood-like situations are being looked into thoroughly.  Adequate arrangements are being made for drainage of rain water.  Chief Minister Punjab has assured all possible help to the affected people.
