Harjot Singh Bains emphasises the use of modern communication tools for the propagation of Punjabi

Higher Education and Language Minister of Punjab Harjot Singh Bains has emphasized the use of modern means of communication for the promotion and dissemination of the Punjabi language. He was here as a chief guest today to attend the Kavi Durbar organized by the Department of Languages ​​under the Festival.

Panjab Kala Parishad Chairman Padmashri Surjit Patar presided over the Kavi durbar and the top Punjabi, Hindi and Puadhi poets participated. While Padmashri Dr Ratan Singh Jaggi and Shiromani Kavi Darshan Buttar were present as special guests.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, referring to Rekhta, an organization working for Urdu and Hebrew in Israel, said that countries that respect their mother tongue always progress. He said that we must learn other languages ​​too, but our Mother tongue Punjabi should never be forgotten.

Referring to the orders given by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to write all the boards in the state by February 21 in Punjabi, Bains said that the Punjab government is working diligently to give due respect to the Punjabi language.

The Language Minister emphasized the need to use modern means of communication for the greater expansion of the Punjabi language, including introducing the famous poets of Punjabi to our new generation, and said that under this, first of all, the head office of the Language Department should be equipped with modern facilities like a studio and YouTube channel will be launched.

Speaking informally with the media Bains said that necessary changes will be made in the State Language Advisory Board. Answering the question regarding the recruitment of teachers, he said that there will be no shortage of teachers in any school in the state. He also said that special attention will be given to technical education and higher education along with school education.

Deputy Commissioner Shaksi Sawhney welcomed the guests and shed light on the outline and goals of the Patiala Heritage Festival. The Joint Director of the Department Dr Virpal Kaur thanked the guests and gave information about the activities and plans of the department.

Padma Shri Surjit Patar in his presidential speech appreciated the Punjab government which was working sincerely to promote Punjabi like other areas because the government has made Punjabi obligatory on all the boards in our cities and towns. The decision is commendable, so we all should extend our support to implement it by February 21, he added.

Harjot Singh Bains emphasises the use of modern communication tools for the propagation of Punjabi.  Padma Shri Dr Ratan Singh Jaggi said that the language department has an important role to promote the Punjabi mother tongue at the national level because what ancient literature and language department has, no other institution has. Darshan Buttar, president of the Central Punjabi Writers’ Association, promised to give full support for the promotion of the Punjabi mother tongue.
