Haryana government declared schedule of holidays for 2020

Haryana Government has notified the schedule of holidays to be observed as public holidays in the public offices under the State Government during the calendar year 2020. The Government has also notified the holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
He said that besides all Sundays and Saturdays, the holidays which would be observed as public holidays in the public offices included Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on January 2, Basant Panchami/Sir Chhotu Ram Jayanti on January 30, Maha Shivratri on February 21, Holi on March 10, Shaheedi Diwas/Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23, Ram Navmi on April 2, Mahavir Jayanti on April 6, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, Id-ul-Fitr/Maharana Pratap Jayanti on May 25, Sant Kabir Jayanti on June 5, Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day on July 31, Raksha Bandhan on August 3, Janamashtmi on August 12, Shaheedi Divas/Haryana War Heroes’ Martyrdom Day on September 23, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 30 and Christmas on December 25.
The spokesman said that the festivals and occasions which falls on non-working days and have been excluded from the list included Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 9, Parshuram Jayanti on April 25, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakr-Id) on August 1, Independence Day on August 15, Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on October 17, Dussehra on October 25, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on October 31, Haryana Day on November 1, Diwali on November 14 and Vishvakarma Day on November 15.
He said that besides these holidays, employees may be allowed any three holidays to be chosen out of the Restricted Holidays. These included Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti (with State celebrations) on February 18, Good Friday on April 10, Budh Purnima on May 7, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day on May 26, Hariyali Teej on July 23, Muharram on August 30, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) on October 30, Karwa Chauth on November 4, Goverdhan Puja on November 15, Chhath Puja on November 20, Guru Teg Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day on November 24 and Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti on December 26.
He said that holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 included all Sundays, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 9, Maha Shivratri on February 21, Holi on March 10, Annual Closing of Bank Account (1st working day of April) on April 1, Mahavir Jayanti on April 6, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Budh Purnima on May 7, Id-ul-Fitr on May 25, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakr-Id) on August 1, Janamashtmi on August 12, Independence Day on August 15, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 25, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 31, Diwali on November 14, Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti on November 30 and Christmas Day on December 25.
