Hawks Club Rupnagar wins the GS Bains Liberals All India Hockey Tournament
Bahadurjeet Singh /Rupnagar, December 26,2023 The Hawks Club Rupnagar won the prestigious 46th GS Bains Liberals All India Hockey Tournament held at Nabha.
This tournament was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jorrremajra. The Hawks Rupnagar team, which was playing under the captaincy of international player Harjit Singh Tuli, played superb hockey throughout the tournament.
The Hawks Club team defeated Jarkhar Academy 4-2 in the first match and ASC Jalandhar in the second match 5-0 .The Hawks Club team entered the semi-finals after defeating EME Jalandhar 5-1 in the quarter-finals.
In the semi-final Hawks Club team defeated Punjab Police 6-4 in penalty shoot out to enter the final for the first time.
In the final Hawks club team defeated Punjabi University Patiala team 5-2 in penalty shoot out to win the tournament.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora gave away prizes to the teams.
Hawks Club team received trophy as well as prize money of Rs one lakh. Navjot Singh, who scored the maximum goals in the tournament for Hawks Club , was adjudged best player trophy.
Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Dr. Preeti Yadav, SSP Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana , SP(H) and former Hockey olympian Rajpal Singh Hundal and Hawks. Club general secretary SS Saini congratulated the players of Hawks Club and all the sports lovers of Rupnagar for this achievement .
