 Health Awareness Seminar at Shri Sanatan Dharma Girls’ College, Bathinda

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Neeru Garg, Principal, Shri Sanatan Dharma Girls’ College, Bathinda, organized a Health Awareness Seminar in association with the Government of India’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and the National One Health Mission (NOHM). The initiative aimed at strengthening the linkage between institutions of higher education and rural communities through health-related educational outreach. 

The seminar’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Aastha Agarwal, who spoke extensively on skin-related ailments and their preventive measures. The interactive session enabled students to gain practical knowledge regarding common dermatological issues, with particular emphasis on preventive healthcare practices. 

A distinctive feature of the programme was the active participation of over 100 students from rural backgrounds, especially from the villages Jassi Po Wali, Gulabgarh, Bhagu, Jodhpur Rumana, and Gehri Devi Nagar, which have been adopted by the college under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan framework. 

Subsequent to the seminar, a free medical check-up camp on dermatological disorders was conducted on the college campus by Dr. Agarwal. Students also benefited from the distribution of free medicines as part of the outreach activity.

Furthermore, in alignment with the objectives of the National One Health Mission, the college organized a Poster-Making Competition on Health and Environmental Awareness. The three best entries were shortlisted for participation at the district-level competition, thus providing students with a platform to express their creativity and critical thinking on pressing public health concerns. 

On this occasion,Sanjay Goyal (President),  Vikas Garg (General Secretary), and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) commended the efforts of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of the College and encouraged its continued engagement in socially relevant and academically enriching activities.
