Punjab’s Minister for Health, Family Welfare, Medical Education, and Research, Dr. Balbir Singh, today continued his review of paddy procurement in Patiala district, ensuring that the process runs smoothly. During his visits to Mandour, Dhangera, Laut, Bakshiwala, and Lang purchase centers, he reaffirmed that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to procuring every grain of the farmers’ harvest across the state’s mandis.

Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that the state government has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure the farmers’ crops are promptly procured upon their arrival at the grain markets. Additionally, a robust system has been implemented to guarantee timely payment directly into the farmers’ bank accounts. He noted that the number of temporary yards has been increased to address any challenges related to lifting the grain.

Speaking with farmers during his visits, Dr. Balbir Singh assured them that continuous and efficient procurement operations are being carried out to prevent any inconvenience. He acknowledged that while there had been some delays in lifting due to the central government’s ineffective policies, the Punjab government has taken up the matter with the Centre, resulting in an acceleration of the lifting process.

The Health Minister reiterated that in addition to ensuring the smooth and efficient procurement of paddy, the government is focused on providing timely payments for farmers’ produce. He issued clear instructions to district officials and procurement agency representatives, stressing that no farmer should face any difficulties when selling their paddy at the mandis. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is fully committed to ensuring the immediate procurement and payment for every grain,” he stated.
