Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has invited Dr. Damanjit Kaur Sandhu, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Punjabi University, Patiala for mental health counseling of Para Athletes, who will represent India at the Para Athletics Grand Prix, to be held from 7th to 13th March 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Jayawant G H, Secretary-General, Paralympic Committee of India has written an official letter and requested the vice chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, that “we would like to inform you that India is hosting the first ever Para Athletics Grand Prix, the New Delhi 2025 WPA, Grand Prix from 7th to 13th March 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. To counsel the Para Athletes the services of Dr. Damanjit Kaur Sandhu, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Punjabi University, Patiala are required. So, You are requested to assign official duty to Dr. Damanjit Kaur, Sandhu, Professor and Head Department of Psychology, Punjabi University Patiala from 9th March till 13th March for guiding, mentoring psychological needs of Indian Team.”

Honour for Punjabi University’s Dr. Damanjit Kaur Sandhu; PCI seeks her services to counsel Para Athletes. Jayawant added that “this Grand Prix is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of bidding and hosting the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic games in India, with participation expected from our 20 countries and more than 300 participants, this landmark event will be a celebration of athletic excellence and inclusivity on a global scale, marking a historic milestone in India. So, Paralympic Committee of India needs the services of Dr Damanjit Kaur Sandhu for guiding, mentoring psychological needs of Indian Team”.

The Paralympic Committee of India is a National Sports Federation recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and affiliated to the International Paralympic Committee, Germany. The Paralympic Committee of India is solely responsible for selecting Para Athletes to represent India at the Paralympic Games and other International Para sports championships.
