Human Rights Protection Welfare Society Patiala, Celebrated Human Rights Day , at the convention Hall of Thapar University, Patiala. The significance of the day was brought to the notice of public attending the function that on this day in 1948 United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, thus empowering the human beings with the principles enshrined in the Declaration in which dignity and respect has been upheld.
After welcoming the VIPs, Yashwant Sharma state president Human Rights Protection Welfare Society in his inaugural address, stressed the need to be careful about the human rights violations committed by persons in authority. Various speakers and dignitaries spoke on the subject and Dr. M.S. Manna, Director AICTE, emphasized on “Swatch Bharat”. Prof Inderpal Singh talked about the Animal Rights, he said there is need to maintain balance in nature and hence the rights of human beings as well as animals should be taken into consideration. Prof. Shailender Jain Director SLIET also spoke on the protection of Human Rights and stressed the need to improve education and health in the state.
Chief Guest Brahm Mohindra Cabinet Minister for Health and family welfare, appreciated the organisers for taking interest in human rights. HRPWS selected some personalities who did outstanding work for society. These personalities, Dr. Sushil Mittal Prof. of Surgery, Rajindra Hospital, Dr. Harshinder Kaur, Prithipal Singh SP Vigilance, Maheshinder Bansal social worker and principal Balbir Singh Govt. Sen. Sec School(Girls) model town, Patiala were awarded by Brahm Mohindra Cabinet Minister on this occasion Human Rights Protection Welfare Society thanked Thapar University for their help and cooperation in this function.
