IIT Ropar all set to welcome Startup Yatra

IIT ROPAR is going to welcome Startup Punjab Yatra . IIT Ropar is inviting students, faculty members and the persons with innovative ideas to participate in this event. The Boot camp is scheduled at PTU Kapurthala on 30th Jan 2019 from 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM. On the spot registrations will also be available for the students who have not registered yet for the boot camp. Being a pioneer in the State to start the Startup culture, IIT Ropar has already State-of-the art infrastructure to support unique ideas and flourish entrepreneurship culture in the State. Total 65 students have been registered for idea pitching session.
During this Boot Camp, a workshop as of “Train the Trainer” will also be organised for faculty members of different universities /colleges / institutes, in which various Government policies about Startup India, Startup Punjab and entrepreneurship will be explained. The unique ideas of entrepreneurs for start-up will be shortlisted and finally, these shortlisted ideas will be felicitated at the grand finale for incubation offers and other financial incentives by resource partners. Registration for this camp will start at 9.30 am & will be closed by 11 am.
The Director, IIT Ropar, Prof. Sarit. K. Das has expressed his pleasure to organize such platform. Also he said that, IIT Ropar being just a decade old institute has been nurturing high-tech start-ups, some have ambitious goals – to develop a special kind of start-ups that have the potential to solve big problems of large market.
Divulging more, Professor Harpreet Singh, Chief Coordinator Technology Business Incubator (TBI) said that, “We are creating flexible course requirements to help potential entrepreneurs. We are encouraging all students to think seriously about entrepreneurship.”
The state government in collaboration with Government of India, is organizing Startup India PunjabYatra across the state to spread awareness about Startup Ecosystem and scout aspiring and grass root entrepreneurs, especially in tier II/III towns. The main objective of the Startup Yatra is to motivate the youth, create self-employment, upgrading the skills of entrepreneurs and to provide them support to set up their units under professional guidance.
