IIT Ropar organised workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights”

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Ropar organized a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” today with the support of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Government of Punjab. The event attracted huge participation from the Research Scholars of the Institute.

Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar while addressing the gathering at the event said that at IIT Ropar IPR Cell encourages inventors to bring out out-of-the-box idea, inventions and innovations. He further added that the commercialization of patents is important and utmost priority of the institute, so that the society can be benefitted with the developments done at IIT Ropar. He emphasized that the students need to understand how to protect their intellectual property, at the same time, bring it out for the benefit of the society. 

Highlighting the importance of documenting ideas and patenting it, Dr. Pushpendra P. Singh, the Associate Dean (R&D) and Chairman, IPR & TT Cellsaid, “IIT Ropar is making huge strides in filing innovating patents every passing year. We are committed to assist and support ourstudents and faculty members in their journey towards the life changing innovations and inventions”. Prof. Navin Kumar, Dean (R&D) presented the vote of thanks and reinstated the importance of the generation of IPs and protecting them. He thanked all the students for attending the workshop and participating in different quizzes.

Pragati Agarwal, Project Officer, Innovation Technology Transfer Office at iTTO or the IIT Delhi gave a presentation in the format of “Ask Me Anything” on the Process of applying a Patent. She shared numerous well known examples and related IPR issues particularly on the aspects of Designs and Trademarks.

Ranajan Mukherjee from XLSCOUT company also discussed on “Intellectual Property Rights: Basics and its importance and How to leverage AI for innovating Faster”. He discussed on How Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies help to develop the most accurate, comprehensive, and intelligent patent & research publication database that gives a researcher more time and reliable insights while filing patent”.

IIT Ropar organised workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” .During the event, PhD scholars facilitated Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar for being selected among top 5 scientists in Sweden and India. In addition, 17 students were awarded for their performance during the IPR Quiz conducted during the workshop. Around 150 participants attended the workshop including faculty members. The entire session was very interactive and informative.
