IIT Ropar organises “Punjab Samvad – Shiksha Ka Sawasthaya aur Samridhi” Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Ropar, in collaboration with the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, organized a one-day program titled “Punjab Samvad – Shiksha Ka Sawasthaya aur Samridhi” on the campus premises. The program commenced under the dynamic leadership of Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar.
Shankranand , National Organisational Secretary of Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, delivered the keynote address during this one-day conference. Rajneesh Arora, Former Vice Chancellor of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Raghvendra P Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, attended as the Special Guest.
The event began with the lighting of candles and a warm welcome extended by Prof. Manjeet Bansal, Seh Sangathan Mantri BSM, Punjab. Following this, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, extended greetings to all the distinguished guests.
During the conference, Rajneesh Arora, Chief Guest and Former Vice Chancellor of IKG PTU, Kapurthala, introduced the theme by highlighting several issues affecting the overall development of Punjab. He emphasized the need of focusing on finding the solutions rather than merely discussing problems. Prof. Arora emphasised the need to introspect within to understand the real priorities regarding the basic values of Indian Knowledge System and the society at large.
In the following speech, Prof. Raghavendra P Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, advocated for the Gurukul system as a means to cope with contemporary problems and emphasized the importance of developing a learning system based on the Indian Knowledge System. Prof. Tiwari identified three major problems in Punjab: Pollution, Conversion, and Immigration, calling for collective efforts to address these challenges.
While delivering Keynote Address Shankarnand, National Organisation Secretary, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal spoke regarding the attainment of societal and personal transformational stage; and the role of a compassionate government and awakened society. He cited the role of Bharat during COVID 19 crisis, which included helping other countries by providing vaccines to them. This, as Shankarnand reminded, indicates that Bharat treats entire world as its family; as mentioned in the Vedas: “Vasudev Katumbkam”. Educational institutions, as he added, can inculcate the same values of compassion to our youngsters, who will be thus empowered to solve the problems of Punjab. He also stressed on the role of belief and determination in eradicating all the problems of Punjab within five years with strong commitment. He congratulated IIT Ropar for taking this initiative.
While conveying formal vote of thanks, Prof Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, express his indebtedness to all the speakers and guests for coming all the way to Ropar and sparing their valuable time. He mentioned that if all educational institutions should come together to solve the problems of Punjab. He declared that IIT Ropar will extend full support to all the academic institutions of Punjab to promote prosperity in education and other aspects of life.
IIT Ropar organises “Punjab Samvad – Shiksha Ka Sawasthaya aur Samridhi” Programme . The programme was anchored by Prof Pankaj Mala Sharma, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Shanti Mantra was recited by Dr Rubal Kanozia, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies, Central University of Punjab.
This Programme was attended by various Vice Chancellors, Directors, Deans and Professors of various centrally and state funded institutions.
