Indian medical Association, Patiaĺa and woman doctor’s wing IMA Patiaĺa, today, celebrated BAISAKHI, the harvest festival by conducting a big workshop and Seminar at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Government Residential School Fatehpur Rajputtan, Patiala.
Dr Chander Mohini, President IMA said that Girls from class 6th to 12th were educated about Menstrual Health and good balanced diet by noted gynecologists of Patiala namely Dr Aarti Pandove, Dr Jasleen, Dr Poonam Malhotra ( joint secretary IMA Patiala) and Dr Janmeet Kaur.

Dr Nidhi Bansal, secretary IMA Told media that Learned Gyanecologists , imparted correct knowledge about menstrual hygiene And emphasised the use of clean cotton reusable materials during periods.
Doctors also organised a workshop where young girls were taught how to make reusable , skin friendly and environment friendly sanitary pads and answered all the questions and tried to clear all doubts and taboos in the minds of young girls  about various problems of teenage.

IMA Doctors also appraised girls about importance of nutrition and iron rich diet to overcome anaemia. They told girls how small things like using iron pots to cook food and to wash vegetables before cutting them can add minerals to diet.

They screened girls for deficiency of Heamoglobin and those who were clinically anaemic were advised testing.

They expressed concern over rising cervical cancer in women , which is becoming a leading cause of death in women. This cancer can be prevented by vaccination and asked for girls between the age of 16 to 25 years to take vaccine and save yourself from this deadly disease.

IMA Patiala doctors celebrated Baisakhi with school girls.Nearly 350 girls and female staff members of school attended the seminar and workshop. Principal and teachers of  Jawahar Navodhya Vidalya , Fatehpur, participated and supported with full enthusiasm.

They lauded IMA doctors for their dedication and determination to eradicate anaemia among adolescents and to give them Right to safe period and create a healthy atmosphere in society.
