Impact of ‘Samwad’ in Nabha: now, no vehicle without number plate will get petrol, diesel from petrol stations in Nabha

Once again Nabha, a princely town takes the lead in launching a people’s movement in the state. Earlier, Jaito da Morcha, Parja Mandal movement was launched by the residents of Nabha. Now, Nabhaites launches another people’s movement ‘Samwad’ to address the grievances, for the betterment of the city and its residents.

‘Samwad’ was launched by selected residents of Nabha to do something for the city and its residents. In a short span, Samwad has become a people’s movement and residents from every strata, religion, field, profession are joining the movement. It’s a non-political organistaion and not affiliated to any political party, religious organization” said one of the founder members, Rajesh Dhingra.

Recently the representative of Samwad had brought the rise in the snatching incidents, criminal activities in the notice of the local authorities, petrol pump dealers. They suggested the local authorities to not to fill the tanks of vehicles having no ‘Number Plates’ at petrol pumps and not to give the petrol, diesel in the bottles to curtail the snatching , criminal incidents. Recently, the intelligence agencies has already alerted the Patiala district police about the rise in the migrants in the district, including in Nabha. The intelligence agency has apprehensions that the crime might be increased due to the rise in migrants, use of vehicles without number plates.

Acting swiftly, the SDM , Nabha Tarsem Chand called a meeting of local petrol pump dealers association. The representatives of petrol pump dealers association of sub-division Nabha agreed to the suggestion made by Samwad to the sub-division level authorities.

Jiwan Bansal, secretary, petrol pump dealers association, Nabha said “a message has been flashed to their around 15 members that from onwards “no petrol pump will fill the tank of vehicles without number plates. They also decided to no to give petrol or diesel in the bottles to anyone.  They also decided that now they will also click the photo of the person who will come to fill the tank of their vehicle with petrol or diesel, having no number plate and will share the same with the local police station and the administration officials.

“It’s up to the administration to what to take action against them as we are committed to help the administration in this initiative” added Bansal.
