Impressive Nagar Kirtan taken out to mark Gurpurab celebrations

Exhilarating display of Gatka skills (Sikh martial art form), rendering of Shabad Kirtans, carrying of Guru Granth Sahib on a decorated vehicle and Nishan Sahib are the part of the ‘Nagar Kirtan’ taken out in connection with 549th Prakash Utsav of First Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh religion Guru Nanak Dev, here today.
Thousands of devotees including children drawn from different parts of the city and its outskirts participated in the Nagar Kirtan which was taken out from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Mall Road, Patiala.
The Nagar Kirtan started from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, led by Panj Piyaras in traditional religious dress which was followed by Guru Granth Sahib on a fully decorated open vehicle followed by Shabad jatha , bands which organized by various Sikh Organizations’. A large number of people from all the community also paid their obeisance. The students from different schools displayed band skills.
Display of Gatka skills (Sikh martial art form) by the Sikh youths especially children were highly appreciated by the people participating in the function and others watching the Nagar Kirtan.
To greet the Nagar Kirtan the people en route had erected welcome gates and put up stalls serving Langar enroute of the Nagar Kirtan.
The Nagar Kirtan passed through Mall Road, Sheran wala Gate, Dharampura Bazaar, Adlat bazaar Qila Chowk, Gur Mandi , Chandni Chowk, Modi college ,Lower Mall and will culminate at Gurudwara Sahib Singh Sabha , The Mall Road.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan.
