Capt Amarinder Singh, scion of erstwhile princely state of Patiala and former chief minister of Punjab today issued an appeal to the residents of Patiala to vote in favour of his wife Preneet Kaur, who is a BJP candidate for upcoming lok sabha elections from Patiala.
It should be noted that Capt. Amarinder Singh hasn’t been seen out in Patiala to campaign. He didn’t show up for Preneet Kaur’s nomination or to attend PM Modi’s rally, though he features prominently on posters across the city.
In a surprise move, Capt Amarinder Singh issued appeal on a letter head having insignia of erstwhile ‘Patiala State’ and have no mention of BJP or the position he holds in the saffron party.
“ He is trying to manipulate the things and to influence the voters with his erstwhile Royal stature .We all know that the government of India derecognised the Maharajas and later, in the early seventies, passed laws that took away their privy purses and stopped them from using their titles. Now, Capt is trying to remind the residents of Patiala that he is still a Maharaja and is playing an emotional card” said a businessman AK Singh.
“It can be seen, whether Capt Amarinder Singh is eligible to use insignia of ‘Patiala State’ after 76 years of Independence. When all the princely states were merged in the Union Government, how can he still using the insignia of ‘Patiala State’ said Gurjit Singh ,resident of Patiala.
Today, Captain Amarinder Singh issued a special letter to the people of Punjab. In his letter, he has written that “he could not participate in the Lok Sabha elections due to health issues. He said that through this letter, he appeals to the people of Punjab that for our common dream of a prosperous and developed Punjab, you all have to strengthen the BJP in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is serving the country with complete sincerity by being dedicated to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The elections to be held on June 1 are not general elections, but this election is a decisive moment to secure the future of our children.”
“With the ever-increasing support of the people, I am confident that BJP’s victory in Patiala and the entire Punjab is assured” said Singh
Captain Amarinder Singh said that I appeal to the people of Punjab to vote for BJP candidates in large numbers.
