In balloon explosion, Nepal Deputy PM, Finance Minister sustain burn injuries

As per media reports, during the inauguration of Pokhara Tourism Year, a balloon explosion injured Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Pokhara Metropolitan Mayor Dhanraj Acharya. The incident took place on Saturday when hydrogen-filled balloons came into contact with fire poppers, causing them to explode. Both officials suffered burn injuries and were subsequently airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment at Burn Hospital in Kirtipur.
According to police reports, the unexpected contact between the balloons and fire poppers was the cause of the explosion.
According to Bhuwan KC, the minister’s press advisor, Paudel suffered burns on his hands and face. Acharya also is said to have sustained more severe injuries.
As per News agencies, both were airlifted to Kathmandu’s Kirtipur Burn Hospital Kathmandu through Simrik Air helicopter for further treatment after receiving first-aid treatment at a hospital in Pokhara, Lama said. However, the conditions of both of them are out of danger, Lama added.
