In two separate cases vigilance bureau nabs private person, sewa Kendra computer operator for taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Tuesday, nabbed a private person namely Inderjit Sharma Patwari, resident of M.R. College Road, Fazilka, accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on behalf of Waqf Board employee Nazar Ali, posted at Fazilka. In this case VB has already formed teams to arrest the absconding accused who is resident of village Ursi Jattan, Rajpura in Patiala district.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said private person has been arrested on the complaint of Surjit Singh, resident of Chak Balochan Wala (Mahalam) in Jalalabad, district Fazilka.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Waqf Board employee and his accomplice private person have demanded Rs 60,000 as a bribe to endorse title of Waqf land measuring two kanal in the name of his wife. The complainant further alleged that the above said accused had already taken Rs 5,000 as a bribe as first installment and he has falsely promised to pay the money in installments. The complainant had recorded the conversation while the accused was demanding the bribe and submitted to the VB as evidence to book the accused.

In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ferozepur. Further investigation in this case was under progress.

In two separate cases vigilance bureau nabs private person, sewa Kendra computer operator for taking bribe. In another case he Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti corruption campaign, on Tuesday nabbed a computer operator Mangjeet Singh, posted at Sewa Kendar, village Kanganwal, Malerkotla district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said Mangjeet Singh, resident of village Ramgarh Sardaran, tehsil Payal, Ludhiana district has been arrested on the complainant of Sikandar Khan, resident of village Kanganwal.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said computer operator has demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to correct the name of his wife’s father on the marriage certificate.

The spokesperson informed that a VB team has laid a trap and the accused Sewa Kendra official has been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ludhiana range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
