Dr. S. P. Singh Oberoi, the famous Sikh businessman from Dubai and the founder of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, who kept aside the differences of religions, castes and countries, guarded his concept of ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’.

In the murder case of a young man related to Jalandhar district, he has shown a unique example by saving 6 Pakistani youths.

Dr  Oberoi said that on 22 May 2019, Kuldeep Singh son of Rajinder Singh belonging to Basti Bawa Khel of Jalandhar city was killed in Sharjah (Dubai) and 6 youths of Pakistan including Ali Hussain, Muhammad Shakir, Aftab, Ghulam, Muhammad Kamran, Muhammad Omir Wahid, Syed Hasan Shah, were sentenced to death.

He said that the families of the Pakistani youth contacted him and requested the family of the murdered Kuldeep Singh to spare the lives of their children by taking blood money according to the law of the Gulf countries. He said that when he found Kuldeep’s family and established contact with them, he found out that Kuldeep’s wife Kirandeep Kaur along with her son had left her in-laws’ family and gone to her ancestral village and now there is no relation between them.

He said that attempts were made to convince both the families many times, but even though they had their minds, they could not take any decision in this regard due to mutual differences. He said that for some cases in the Gulf countries, the family of the murdered person may not agree, but if the money is deposited in the court, then the punishment of the person found guilty is waived.

He said that in such cases, the victim’s family can take the money deposited in the court whenever they want.

He said that in this case too, to save the said 6 Pakistani youths, they fought the said case through their lawyers and deposited 2 lakh 10 thousand drams (about 48 lakh Indian rupees) in the court. After which the court has pardoned the punishment of all 6 Pakistani youths and sent the release papers to the prison department and in a few days these youths will return to their homes safely.

He said that of course the entire case has been fought by him, but the entire amount deposited in the court has been given by the families of the convicted youths. According to him, Pakistani citizen Shabir Ahmed Manzoor, who is the father of Ali Hussain, has also worked tirelessly to bring this case to a head. He said that even today, if there is a mutual agreement between the concerned victim’s family, then he will help them in all possible ways to pay the amount deposited in the court.

He also said that if the concerned family agrees to take this money, then according to Shariat law, the amount deposited in the court will be divided equally among the deceased Kuldeep’s father Rajinder Singh, mother Jaswinder Kaur, wife Kirandeep Kaur, son Prabhadeep Singh and brother Lakhvir Singh will be divided equally.
