Indo Canadian bus permits cancelled by Punjab government

Taking stern action against Badal’s owned Indo-Canadian Transport Company the state government has issue a cancellation of bus permits of the luxury buses, plying on Jalandhar-New Delhi airport route.
Punjab government has cancelled bus permits of Indo-Canadian bus services. The orders were issued by secretary, state transport authority, Punjab, SAS Nagar (Mohali)
The transport authorities has cancelled the permits bearing no.PB/1/AITP/TVP/2019/2128,PB2020-AITP-0938A and PB2020-AITP-0937A.
As per state transport authorities in a surprise checking, inspection by secretary, regional transport authority (Secy RTA) Patiala and Ludhiana, three buses bearing no PB01C2884, PB01C9726 and PB01C9727 were being operated as Stage Carriage buses. The authorities challaned these three buses under section 86 of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 on account of violation of terms and conditions of the permits.
The state transport authorities has alleged that the transport company is operating their buses as Stage carriage buses where as they have “ALL INDIA TOURIST PERMIT” which is in the form of a Contract Carriage Permit. Whereas the aforementioned buses were challaned for violation of the terms of the permit under the relevant provisions of the “The Motor Vehicles Act ,1988 and accordingly were ceased and impounded because these said buses’ were being plied in complete contravention of the terms and conditions of the permit” said the transport authority while cancelling the Indo-Canadian bus permits.
As per the transport authorities, the Indo-Canadian Transport authorities has not responded to the show cause notice issued to them on December 23,2021. The said notice with all the valid documents was sent to the companies registered office –Managing Director, Indo Canadian Transport Company, SCO 135, near International Hotel, Ranjit Nagar, Jalandhar. But the company didn’t respond to the above show cause notice. Again an opportunity was given for personal hearing for January 3, 2022. But, once again no representative of the Indo-Canadian Transport company came for personal hearing on January 3,2022 to clarify their position on the show cause notice issued to them.
Finally, while passing the orders, the transport department secretary informed the Indo Canadian Company authorities “it is clear that you have nothing to say w.r.t the Show Cause notice dated 23-12-2021. Thus in the absence of you having appeared on 3rd January 2022, you are liable to be proceeded ex-parte.”
