An Inter School Group Dance Competition was organised at St. Xavier’s International School, Patiala under the patronage of Patiala Sahodaya School Complex.
The theme of the competition was “Indian Folk Dances’. The Judges were Tejinder Singh Teji (Gold medalist) and Dr. Kulwinder Kaur (Gold medalist) currently working as professor in Dance Department in GCG ,Patiala.
About 13 teams from reputed CBSE schools participated in the competition. The event commenced with a prayer presented by the school choir. The judges were welcomed with bouquets presented by the Principal.
A state of excitement, awe and joy was witnessed by everyone. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and created a powerful rapport with the audience through facial expressions, eye contact, and the general energy. The great enthusiasm, the execution of movement where the spacing was effectively managed, especially when the dancers transitioned across different parts of the choreography could be seen. The face make up, the vast array of bright coloured, sequined costumes, dazzling smiles added energy to the dance and was accompanied by the deafening cheers from the audience.
Folk dance forms of Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and Gujarat were presented by the teams. Each performance was judged on the costume, choreography, coordination, synchronization and overall performance. Mukat Public School bagged the first prize followed by Budha Dal Public School and DAV Public School. Career Academy won Consolation Prize. Principal of the school Manjeet Waraich congratulated the winners and thanked everyone to make this event a grand success.
