Interactive session on National Credit Framework held at Government College of Education, Chandigarh

Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh held an engaging and insightful interactive session today on the National Credit Framework (NCrF) under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college today. The event brought together a diverse group of educators, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the Chandigarh. The Chief Guest and key note speaker of the day was Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson National Council for Vocational Education and Training. Prof. Lakhvir Singh Additional State Project Director, RUSA, Chandigarh and Principals Prof. Anita Kaushal, Prof. Nisha Aggarwal, Prof. Punam Aggarwal, Dr. Abha Sudarshan, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Dr. Navjot Kaur and faculty members of various government and government aided schools and colleges of Chandigarh were also present. Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda extended formal welcome to the dignitaries and that the National Credit Framework holds great promise, and we are committed to working together to overcome the challenges ahead.

The event started with lamp lightening ceremony and College Anthem presented by Music Department of the College. The organizers of the program Dr. Anjali Puri and Dr. Lilu Ram gave an introduction about IQAC and shared that the event aims to foster discussions on the implementation and potential impact of a standardized National Credit Framework. The college half yearly newsletter ‘JIJIVISHA’ Volume 1, Issue 2 was also released on the occasion.

Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi delivered insightful talk on the NCrF’s benefits, challenges, and its alignment with global standards. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the framework’s potential. He also highlighted that the NCrF is envisioned to provide a unified structure for accrediting and recognizing academic credits earned by students in various educational institutions across the country. He discussed the aspects of NCrF creditisation of all learning components, Special provisions in NCrF FOR creditising non formal, informal learning in govt./ non govt organisation, NCrF transformative and disruptive mandate of NEP 2020, National regulator for vocational education, training and skills, Enabling lifelong learning through recognition of prior learning, Number of NSQF aligned and approved qualifications, Progressive levels of digital skills, Initiatives enabling integration of VETS in school education and the G20 education working group (EdWO) vision to prepared and upgrade ourselves with technology advancements in education. He concluded with a commitment to further research, collaboration, and advocacy to realize the vision of a comprehensive and standardized National Credit Framework.

The session witnessed and allowed attendees to actively engage in brainstorming session and encouraging the sharing of ideas and feedback regarding the practical implementation of the NCrF. Participants had the opportunity to network and collaborate with varied individuals and organizations to drive the NCrF’s adoption and evolution. Dr. A.K. Srivastava, Dean of the College extended a formal vote of thanks to the Dignitaries, Principals of Government and Private schools and colleges of Chandigarh, Faculty and students of the college. He also added that the success of the interactive session on the National Credit Framework at GCE20 demonstrates the education community’s dedication to advancing the quality and accessibility of education in the country.
