International Chef’s Day celebrated at GNDU’s Hotel Management and Tourism department

Department of Hotel Management and Tourism, GNDU, Amritsar celebrated “International Chef’s Day” on 20th October 2022. An Inter-College Chef Competition was organised to celebrate the occasion. More than 10 teams from various Hotel Management Institutions from Punjab took part in the event. Each year on October 20th, we celebrate International Chefs Day.
Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Professor Incharge,Department of Hotel Management and Tourism DHMT, Guru Nanak Dev University ( GNDU) , Amritsar encouraged the Budding Chefs to keep up with the passion of making different cuisines of food and also emphasised on making Healthy and Nutritious food. The Judges of the event were Chef Navneet Singh (Executive Chef, ITC Amritsar) and Chef Gyanesh Dass (Executive Chef, Holiday Inn Amritsar). Both the Chefs shared their experience from the Industry with the students. It was indeed very knowledge gaining experience for the Students.
The Theme of the Competition was “Indian Regional Cuisine” and students made delicacies from different regions on India.
International Chef’s Day celebrated at GNDU’s Hotel Management and Tourism department. First Position was bagged by Gursimran and Harpreet (Guru Nanak Dev University , Amritsar), Second position was won by Sarandeep and Akshit (Amritsar Group of Colleges) and the Third Position was shared by Sahil and Gagan (Panjab University, Chandigarh) along with Md Adil and Tanish (FCI Hoshiarpur). The winners were awarded a Cash Prize of Rs 5100 ,Rs 2100 and Rs 1100 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize respectively.
Chef Harpreet Singh concluded the Ceremony on a High Note and promised students that more such events will be done in the near future for their knowledge and enlightenment.
Guru Nanak Dev University is running a four year Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) course and Bachelor of Tourism & Travel Management course in its campus.
