International Women’s Day celebrated at Mata Sahib Kaur Education College

N.S.S. Unit, Red Ribbon Club & Nanhi Chhan Unit of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education Dhamo Majra, Patiala celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ in the college campus in collaboration with Women’s Welfare Self Employment Society, Regd.. Gursharan Kaur (Director, Languages Dept.,Punjab) was the Chief Guest on this occasion while Gurkirat Kaur (Advocate, Distt. Legal Service Authority), Dr. Kiranjot Kaur (Medical Officer, Civil Medical Services, Punjab ) and Jaswant Singh Kauli (Patron, W.W.S.E.S.) were the Guest of Honour.
While welcoming the Guests, College Principal, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand said that women empowerment is the key to strengthen their participation in the decision making which is most important for the socio-economic development. She also said that the situation will only change if we change ourselves, if we change our thoughts & conduct towards the women of our home & society.
Gursharan Kaur in her address said that we as women need to recognize our identity and role in our society. The need is not to change the society but to change the mindset of the women herself. Gurkirat Kaur gave a detailed information to the students about the legal rights of women. Dr. Kiranjot (Medical Officer) informed the students regarding the free health facilities given by the government institutions for the welfare of the women. The students also presented a cultural programme comprising of poetry, song, speech and dance. The old students of the college also presented their views on this occasion. The dignitaries who graced this occasion with their presence were Harjit Kaur (Chairperson, W.W.S.E.S), Surinder Ahluwalia (President, W.W.S.E.S), Renu (Vice President, W.W.S.E.S), Inder Walia, Kuljit Kaur Dhaliwal, Hardeep Kaur Jassowal, Pardeep Kaur, & Asha Sarma. Dr. Gurwinder Kaur thanked the Guests. All the staff members were also present during this occasion.
