JEs Council PSEB protested against the privatization of profit making UT Electricity Department, Chandigarh

On the call given by National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineers (NCCOEEE), Power Junior Engineers & Promoted Engineers of PSPCL today observed Two Hour work Boycott to register their strong protest against the privatization of UT Electricity Department, Chandigarh. This was informed to the press by Er. Davinder Singh, General Secretary, JEs Council PSEB.

Meanwhile, Er. Paramjit Singh Khattra State President & Er. Davinder Singh State General Secretary of the JEs Council jointly stated that through draft bidding document was circulated by the Govt. of India in September 2021, which has not been finalized yet, but, still Central Govt. still decided to privatize the UT Electricity Department, Chandigarh, a profit making Department, without any justification. It is clear that under the guise of privatization, a conspiracy is being hatched to sell Power Department assets worth crores of rupees at throwaway prices, to the private players.

JEs Council also strongly condemned the action of unilateral privatization of Power distribution of cooperations of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and demanded withdrawal of these actions.

Council Leadership also expressed its serious concern over the non clearance of outstanding subsidy bills by the Pb. Govt. to the tune of 4500 crore and unpaid electricity bills of various government departments which stands at 3600 crore, as these overall subsidy & pending dues totally Rs. 13,600 crore have created a severe cash flow crunch for the Pb. Power Sector.
