JGND PSOU organises Orientation & Sensitisation Programme

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala, in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Punjab, organised a State-Level Orientation & Sensitisation Programme for Principals of Government Colleges, Punjab. The programme was organised under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice Chancellor. The objective of the programme was to acquaint the Principals of Government Colleges with Open Distance Learning (ODL) best practices, and strategies to strengthen institutional management and academic outcomes. “It is important to sensitize academicians and stakeholders about the accessibility, affordability and flexibility of learning schedules in ODL that empower students,” observed Prof. Rattan Singh.

Dr. Jatinderpal Singh, Deputy Director, Department of Higher Education to Punjab, delivered the inaugural address and underlined the importance of ODL. “ODL aims to escalate access to education, improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio, promote life long learning anf fulfill national goals,” he remarked. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Registrar, highlighted on the commitment of Punjab State Open University to provide inclusive, flexible, and affordable education. Dr. Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean Academic Affairs, spoke about innovative academic practices, learner-centric approaches, and the integration of ICT for employability enhancement and lifelong learning. Dr. Karan Sukhija, Head, Planning Cell expanded on vision of University. Principals from Government Colleges across Punjab were in attendance. During the programme strategies to align higher education with the developmental priorities of the state were discussed.
